CARING FOR YOUR KAYAK

  • Once you get it home give it a good wash inside. It is cleaned in the factory but it will need a wash to remove any dust left behind. Dry it out with a soft cloth or towel.
  • Waxing your kayak with a Carnauba wax will keep it looking good and help to reduce scratch marks. Once a year is OK. Armorall is best used on rubber hatch covers to extend their life and help protect them.
  • Light Scratches and dirty marks can easily be removed with a fibreglass cleaner or a little Brasso or Jiff liquid.
  • Gelcoat chips can happen from time to time. They will not effect your kayak unless you leave the exposed area in water for long periods.

  • Rinse out the inside and loosen all covers and lids, this allows your kayak to breathe.
  • Never leave sea water inside you kayak. It never dries out. The kayak will absorb the water and get heavy.
  • Never leave anything in storage compartments. If you d when you come to use your kayak again it will smell bad. It is a good idea to cover your cockpit to guard against dust.
  • Kayaking is fun so to guard against getting too wet it is advisable to wear a Spray skirt especially if you are going to paddle in the ocean. A good quality neoprene /nylon one will last years. Don’t forget to wash this after use.
